Government defines pension allocation to vulnerable emigrant community members

According to the publication of the Official Bulletin, the regulation was approved by the Council of Ministers, explaining that for the purpose of determining the situation of vulnerability, the fact that the member of the emigrant community does not have minimum conditions that allow him to take into account self-subsistence, namely unemployment and lack of social or family support.

According to the same source, the pension is precarious in nature and only exists as long as the assumptions that justify its granting are maintained.

 It advances that holders of the right to pension people aged 60 or over, residing in the host country for at least 30 years, children with disabilities, chronic or disabling illness and who depend on third parties to satisfy their basic needs.

It also includes individuals aged between 18 and 60 years, who suffer from permanent incapacity to exercise any income generating activity.

The Government defines that the assignment will be for people who are natives of Cape Verde or descendants of Cape Verdean citizens up to the 3rd degree, be in a situation of social vulnerability and not be covered by any other social security system.

However, stipulates the executive, the pension is suspended when the beneficiary fails to provide proof of life, is out of the country, without justification to the management entity for an uninterrupted period of more than 90 days, except when traveling abroad results from evacuation for medical treatment, in addition to other aspects.

According to the B.O., the pension amount is fixed and updated by Resolution of the Council of Ministers.
