Pension granted to members of the emigrated community

Recipients

Emigrant community members, in a situation of social, economic vulnerability and who are not covered by another social security system, such as:

  •  Elderly resident for at least thirty years in one of the countries covered, namely, São Tomé and Príncipe, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal and Angola;
  •  Child with a disability or chronic disabling illness;
  •  Individual suffering from permanent incapacity for work.

Access Requirements

  •  Be a Cape Verdean national or descendant of Cape Verdean citizens up to the 3rd degree;
  •  Be in a situation of social vulnerability;
  •  Not be covered by any other social security system.

Required Documentation

  • Pension application form duly completed;
  • Originals and a copy of the applicant's identification documents or documents proving Cape Verdean descent;
  • Declaration on the situation of social security coverage in the country of residence;
  • Medical document proving the situation of permanent incapacity for the exercise of any professional activity;
  • Medical document proving chronic incapacitating illness and dependence on others to satisfy their basic needs;

At the Cape Verde Embassy or diplomatic representation of your country of residence.

Payment of pensions

Payment of the pension is made quarterly, through embassies or diplomatic representations in the amount of: 40 EUR in São Tomé e Príncipe, 44 USD in Mozambique, 34 EUR in Guinea-Bissau and Senegal, and 40 EUR in Angola.
